identityOn a dark and stormy night, ten people are stranded and then subjected to a killer at a scary motel. A brutal chiller with a twist that comes across as both annoying and clever, which is some kind of feat. The movie evolves into a cross between The Cell (2000) and Agatha Christie’s “Ten Little Indians”; it’s definitely exciting, although the excessively gory details of every murder risk making the movie too silly. The actors, particularly John Cusack, make you care for their characters – but that effort is almost ruined once the twist becomes obvious…

2003-U.S. 90 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by James Mangold. Cast: John Cusack (Ed), Ray Liotta (Rhodes), Amanda Peet (Paris), John Hawkes, Rebecca De Mornay, Alfred Molina.
