PLANET EARTH. POPULATION 9 BILLION. NONE HUMAN.
The eighth Star Trek movie is the first to stand on its own with the crew from Star Trek: The Next Generation. This occasionally slow chapter harks back to a couple of episodes where Picard (Patrick Stewart) fell victim to dangerous aliens that assimilate bodies; those Borg return in this movie, causing the Enterprise to go back in time to find a way to save Earth from becoming a slave colony. The screenplay is good enough, balancing two storylines where among other things we get to see how warp speed was invented. The special effects are outstanding as always.
