The Interpreter

THE TRUTH NEEDS NO INTERPRETATION.

theinterpreterYou can’t really blame Nicole Kidman, as a U.N. interpreter who overhears a conversation between people who are planning to assassinate an African dictator when he’s addressing the General Assembly. Neither can Seam Penn be faulted. But the parts these stars are playing are not compelling enough and there’s not much tension in the story at all. The political backdrop in director Sydney Pollack’s thriller is more interesting however, as the problem with Zimbabwe gets some exposure, the film has a credible feel to it and there is one expertly directed sequence involving a bomb on a bus.
