63-year-old record company exec Harry Sanborn (Jack Nicholson) always dates much younger women, but something happens when he meets the mother (Diane Keaton) of his latest flirt. Director Nancy Meyers wrote this romantic comedy with these stars in mind and it’s meant to attract an adult audience. It’s a sweet, funny story with a few things to say about how we view people of a certain age… but why does Meyers feel the need to include slapstick when she’s far from the most accomplished in that field? Still, the actors certainly carry the day; Nicholson works his charm and Keaton is very attractive.
