Prince Albert (Alec Guinness) is about to visit exiled family members of his; one purpose of the visit is to get him interested in princess Alexandra (Grace Kelly), but that’s a challenge. When Kelly announced that she would marry Prince Rainier of Monaco it was decided that she should star in this remake of a 1925 film where she would get to play a princess. She’s beautiful, but neither she nor Louis Jourdan as her would-be lover are as watchable as Guinness and Jessie Royce Landis. It’s a likable film, but the material is pretty weak and director Charles Vidor does nothing special with it.
