24 HOURS. 350 MILES. HIS GIRLFRIEND’S KIDS. WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?
Nick Persons (Ice Cube) agrees to take his girlfriend’s (Nia Long) kids to Vancouver to help her out, but he hates kids and they plan to make him disappear out of their lives. One of those horrible family comedies that want to be both hilarious and cute but end up tasteless and tiresome. Mostly jokes about torturing Ice Cube and ruining his SUV. Yawn. He’s OK, but hardly carries the film. These three people do learn to like each other, but it’s easy to resist the sugar.
2005-U.S. 95 min. Color. Directed by Brian Levant. Cast: Ice Cube (Nick Persons), Nia Long (Suzanne Kingston), Jay Mohr (Marty), Aleisha Allen, M.C. Gainey, Philip Daniel Bolden… Nichelle Nichols.
Trivia: Adam Sandler was allegedly considered for the part of Nick. Tracy Morgan provides the voice of the Satchel Paige bubblehead doll. Followed by a sequel, Are We Done Yet? (2007), and a TV series, Are We There Yet? (2010-2012).
