Aaron Sorkin’s first TV show blew some fresh air into network television, but has since been eclipsed by far greater cable shows. To a certain degree, this story about the crew behind a New York sports show was slightly reminiscent of M*A*S*H in content and style, but never achieved greatness during its short run in spite of the potential. The writer got a chance to hone the “Sorkinspeak” ahead of The West Wing and the cast members always looked enthusiastic. The characters were genuinely likable and there were earnest stabs at portraying the rift between management and the people on the floor. It wasn’t very funny though and the drama was too light.
