THE THRONE IS ALL HERS… BUT THERE’S A LITTLE HITCH.
Amelia (Anne Hathaway) is prepared to assume the throne of Genovia, but her right to it is questioned by a rival who points out that the law demands she finds a mate. If there’s any preteen girls out there whose princess fantasies weren’t fulfilled by watching the first film, here’s another chance. Hathaway and Julie Andrews are OK, but Heather Matarazzo’s part is even less thankful than in the original. The filmmakers turn a 30-minute premise into something overly long, cute, predictable and dull.
2004-U.S. 115 min. Color. Directed by Garry Marshall. Cast: Anne Hathaway (Amelia Thermopolis), Julie Andrews (Clarisse Renaldi), Hector Elizondo (Joe), Heather Matarazzo, John Rhys-Davies, Chris Pine.
