Get Smart

Saving the world. And loving it.

Intelligence analyst Maxwell Smart (Steve Carell) is promoted to secret agent and teams up with a sexy colleague (Anne Hathaway) to save the planet from an evil organization called KAOS. Another lame adaptation of a hit TV series; Get Smart (1965-1970) was created by Mel Brooks and Buck Henry, but in the hands of Peter Segal and his writers the concept becomes too familiar and stale. Carell tries to make it work and there’s plenty of action, but the movie goes on for too long… and I’m sick of watching Terence Stamp as yet another poorly written villain.

2008-U.S. 110 min. Color. Directed by Peter Segal. Cast: Steve Carell (Maxwell Smart), Anne Hathaway (Agent 99), Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (Agent 23), Alan Arkin, Terence Stamp, James Caan… Bill Murray, Kevin Nealon. Voice of Ryan Seacrest.

Trivia: Jim Carrey was allegedly considered for the lead.
