The Fog

THEIR PAST HAS COME BACK TO HAUNT THEM.

thefog05As an Oregon seaside town prepares to celebrate the anniversary of its founding, a mysterious, unnatural fog begins to shroud it. The remake of John Carpenter’s 1980 horror movie obviously has his backing, but it’s a bust. The basic concept is still a scary idea, but nothing much happens for a good part of the movie; once the fog hits, the deaths are less than colorful. That goes for the acting as well; Smallville’s Tom Welling is hardly the engaging lead you need.

2005-U.S.-Britain. 100 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Rupert Wainwright. Cast: Tom Welling (Nick Castle), Maggie Grace (Elizabeth Williams), Selma Blair (Stevie Wayne), DeRay Davis, Kenneth Welsh, Adrian Hough.

Trivia: Co-produced by John Carpenter. Jessica Biel was allegedly considered for the part of Elizabeth.
