In this family, attitude doesn’t skip a generation.
Rebellious teen Rachel Wilcox (Lindsay Lohan) comes to stay with her grandmother (Jane Fonda) in Idaho for the summer; when she tells her mom (Felicity Huffman) a dark secret, she refuses to believe Rachel. Fonda’s second picture after coming out of retirement has her battling two younger generations in a film that’s meant to be an uplifting experience for female viewers. The script has its moderately incisive moments, but they are easy to miss in a film where the actors deliver such shrill and annoying performances. Hardly another On Golden Pond (1981).
