Burn After Reading

burnafterreadingWhen a CIA analyst (John Malkovich) is fired, he decides to write a book… but the consequences are deadly for some of Washington’s dumbest citizens. This is the Coen brothers having a little fun after winning Oscars for No Country for Old Men (2007). Their story about dirty deals and paranoia in the nation’s capital is well paced and has funny situations as well as a black sense of humor. The movie is very well cast, with amusing performances by Brad Pitt (love that hairdo), Frances McDormand and George Clooney. Still, as one of the characters puts it, the plot is a real clusterfuck.

2008-U.S. 95 min. Color. Written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen. Cast: George Clooney (Harry Pfarrer), Frances McDormand (Linda Litzke), Brad Pitt (Chad Feldheimer), John Malkovich, Tilda Swinton, Richard Jenkins… Dermot Mulroney, J.K. Simmons.
