When Dave (Jason Lee) ends up in hospital, Alvin and the chipmunks move in with his nephew (Zachary Levy) and go to high school where they face competition from three singing girl chipmunks. Kids may get something out of this sequel, but no one involved has put much of an effort into it. Not even David Cross manages to generate laughs as the bad guy. The squeaking CGI critters are still a bit of a headache, at their worst performing chipmunk versions of generic radio hits.
