NBC had high hopes for this thriller series that started off as a cross between 24 and Lost; there were government conspiracies, a lot of action and flashbacks meant to give the characters a richer background. However, when audiences learned that the titular event turned out to be related to a group of aliens that the U.S. government were keeping imprisoned at a base in Alaska, they failed to see the big deal. Part of the problem was the unnecessary attempts to complicate the story. When the show returned after a long mid-season break, the flashbacks were gone and the action ramped-up. Still not compelling enough, the show ended with a cliffhanger that would have been interesting to follow up.
