Lindsay Lohan is getting another chance. She will play Elizabeth Taylor in an upcoming Lifetime TV movie about the stormy relationship between Taylor and Richard Burton. This will be her first starring role since 2009. It is a project that could be quite worthy, considering the fact that Christopher Monger (who penned Temple Grandin) will write it. Under normal circumstances this is a huge challenge to any actor. But to Lohan, this has to be more than that. After years of partying and fighting her court battles, showing up on time and doing what’s expected of her as an actor is going to be tough.

Rosie O’Donnell, for one, does not believe that she can do it. Her judgment on The Today Show is harsh, but she’s right – especially compared to that of fellow panelist Donny Deutsch who thinks of Lohan as a modern Taylor. Lohan is no equivalent of Taylor. The icon may have had her own set of problems, but she continued to deliver over the years. Lohan has yet to prove… everything.

Some of Lohan’s earlier films: Freaky Friday (2003), Mean Girls (2004), Bobby (2006), A Prairie Home Companion (2006), Georgia Rule (2007), Chapter 27 (2008).
