It’s the coolest job ever.

Ten years after a supernatural encounter in a Manhattan bookstore, physics student Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel) meets a sorcerer (Nicolas Cage) again who explains to him that he’s destined to become his apprentice. The folks behind the National Treasure movies deliver another well-paced, effects-laden adventure for a younger audience. Interestingly enough, it was based on a segment from Fantasia (1940), which is acknowledged in a fun scene involving mops that come alive. Unfortunately, the banter between Cage and Baruchel falls flat and the story lacks punch.

2010-U.S. 109 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Jon Turteltaub. Cast: Nicolas Cage (Balthazar), Jay Baruchel (Dave Stutler), Alfred Molina (Horvath), Teresa Palmer, Monica Bellucci, Toby Kebbell.
