When a family is murdered, Stockholm cop Joona Linna (Tobias Zilliacus) gets in touch with a hypnotist (Mikael Persbrandt) who might be able to reach through to the sole survivor of the attack. Director Lasse Hallström’s first Swedish film in 25 years is a thriller, uncharacteristically enough, one that depicts a wintry Stockholm in an almost mythic way. Clearly, this is an offer for fans of the “Millennium” trilogy. Unfortunately, in spite of a chilling opening and a nail-biting climax on an icy lake, this is unremarkable and sometimes illogical fodder.
